Capt. Michael Cox teaches the C.H.A.M.P.S. (Choosing Healthy Activities and Methods Promoting safety) Program inDecatur County . C.H.A.M.P.S. is taught to the fifth grade students in all schools in Decatur County that have a fifth grade.
C.H.A.M.P.S. lesson that are covered in the program are:
Alcohol, ATV, Boating Safety, Bullying, Home Alone, Child Abduction, Choices and Consequences, Cocaine, Gangs, Hunting Safety, Leaders Followers, Internet Safety, Marajuana, Methamphetamine, Peer Pressure, Positive Alternatives, Stress,Tobacco, and Violence.
Capt. Cox also speaks with in the elementary schools, local churches, Boy Scout Troops, and Cub Scout in reference to safety related topics.
